Three Ways a Water Filter Can Help Improve Bad Skin & Hair

As a modern lady or gentleman, you may have spent quite a bit of money on expensive face creams, serums, luxury shampoo and cosmetic procedures to care for your skin and hair. Yet, you still wash your skin and hair with tap water. So, what’s wrong with that? Well…tap water has chlorine in it and chlorine does nasty things to your skin and hair. There are easy ways to protect them from chlorine damage.

Wash Your Face in Filtered Water

Chlorine is known for being a cheap and effective way to disinfect water and kill harmful bacteria. It makes your tap water drinkable. However, chlorine in tap water is an irritant which takes all the essential protective oils out of your skin causing dry skin, acne, rashes and eczema. According to studies, chlorine can dehydrate the skin so much that it leads to premature aging – promoting fine lines and wrinkles.

So, the best way to protect your skin is simply using filtered water to wash your face instead of shower, cleanse and rinse. You can either install an inline water filter to your existing bathroom or simply use refrigerator filtered water to wash your face. You can try it for a few days to see if your skin gets better hydrated and looks glowing.

Wash Your Hair in Filtered Water

Chlorine is bad for your hair too, which can strip away the hair’s natural color and protective oils, making it dry and dull. In addition, if you live in hard water areas, the high proportion of minerals – especially calcium and magnesium – in water will create a film on your hair. This prevents moisture from entering the hair. The result is dry, dull, tangly, and strange colored hair. Hard water can also increase the risk of scalp buildup, causing a dandruff-like condition to form. If this is happening to you, try to wash your hair in filtered water. You can also use vinegar to rinse your hair to balance the pH of your hair once a week.

Drink Refrigerator Filtered Water

There’s no doubt that drinking the recommended daily amount of water a day is good for your skin. However, according to research, unfiltered tap water contains two major pollutants, lead and chlorine. Long-term intake can harm human skin, hair, respiratory system and other vital organs. In severe cases, drinking unfiltered tap water long term will cause red, itchy, inflamed, cracked and sore skin. It is most common in babies, affecting at least 10% of infants at some stage. Therefore, it’s important for your and your family’s skin and hair health to drink clean, filtered water every day.
